Rule card

Grepolis

A city builder with armies, set in ancient Greece and published by InnoGames. It's slow by design. You check in and give orders, then come back later.

1A growing empire of cities

Grow your city and add more by conquest, standing with an alliance on a world that runs for months. There is no single finish line; worlds close when they close.

2Founding your first city

You name your city and follow the build order that quests suggest. Farms and timber come first, then stone and barracks. Early on, buildings finish in minutes, and the waits stretch as levels climb.

3The pull of a living world

Other players share your world and your alliance chat, so there's always someone who has moved since you last looked. Progress is measured in days, not minutes.

4Account and premium currency

Free to play, and an InnoGames account is required, which means an email address and a secret word set on their site. The game sells a premium currency, so decide beforehand what you're willing to spend, if anything. Its rules and privacy policy are InnoGames', not ours.

5A game for patient planners

Patient players who like planning and team play. Wrong choice if you want a result in one sitting.

6Browser and mobile apps

Browser on desktop, and the publisher also lists apps for phones and tablets.
